     5 Groups of 4 ~ 10-minutes Each
     Give Feedback Verbally

Students will develop a leadership plan that calendars ways in which their leadership will be rooted in data-based decision making aimed at improving culture, teaching, and learningIt should address those issues in a written form followed by a calendar-specific plan that would benefit a practicing principal in the area of assessment. The plan should be designed to serve as a guide for you in your future roles as principal.

Final Assignment ~ Assessment Portfolio
Your Assessment Portfolio is the Top Ten Artifacts you don't want to forget from this class.
This is my favorite, although I've reduced the assignment this year to simply the 10 Artifacts:

Don't create this for me!

Make these assignment something you'll appreciate in the future when implementing these topics in your internship or in your own building.

  3. This has been one of the best, and most valuable, four months that I have spent in my career as an educator. I have truly grown so much and I appreciate everyone's thoughts and insights which have really challenged me. I am taking away so many important nuggets of wisdom from the importance of the CSIP, a strong mission/vision, a data and student-centered culture, to practical ideas and plans for my future position as a new administrator. Muchas gracias compañeros(as) de clase!

  4. As always, it was powerful to discuss the leadership plans in both our small and large groups. Even the conversation about barriers helped push my thinking about not defaulting to doing things the way they've always been done, but making sure that the decisions we are making are done with the kids' interest at the center and aren't a reflection of structures that are convenient for adults. Not sure how to make that happen yet, but the conversations were a great catalyst for my thinking.

What a great last class! Our small group had a great discussion (although we went a bit off the specifics of our plans). It was a great opportunity to get a nice, wide range of perspectives on some of the challenges of PLCs, some of the observations of leadership and culture in action, and some strategizing for how to approach these challenges in the future. I almost wish we had had more opportunity for just some limitedly guided conversation so that we could engage in more of these relaxed discussions. I'm looking forward to continuing this journey next semester with this great cohort!

  6. I loved our impassioned conversation around choice of learning environments for individuals. I seem to believe the lack of choice is a barrier created in a traditional system, we continue to cater to for fear of failing. I will continue to search and question. Thanks for pushing my thinking tonight!

  7. An inspirational last class. I felt a bit bothered that we would leave this foundational and critical content of leadership development. I think that I feel like I've grown so much in such a short amount of time that I feel a "loss" of changing from our usual Tue. and Thur. content and guides. I loved the choice of reading recommendation it seemed like it was from Glenn's heart, and it certainly struck chords in mine.

  8. This cohort of awesomeness is always inspiring, insightful, and collaborative. Combine that with experienced and supportive instruction and you get a great experience. Thank you to all of you for always being willing to share your ideas, struggles, knowledge, and growth experiences. Thanks to Glenn for being Glenn, the instructor of awesomeness! I agree with Nick, it has been the most valuable four months of my professional career. Looking forward to our future together as leaders in training, and then leaders in action.

  9. The assignment we shared with each other Thursday- the leadership plan- was an excellent synthesis of the many lessons throughout this course. It was a clear and cohesive way to bring together the essential elements for principal success (such as: creating a culture of collaborative inquiry, parent/family engagement, School Improvement Plan, PLC’s, data-driven instruction). Hearing my colleagues’ plans reminded me of details that we discussed throughout the course that I had not included in my own plan- but want to be sure to. I appreciate the opportunities to collaborate with my colleagues on these evenings as I feel like the rich discussion continually enhances my own learning. Thank you all for such a valuable first semester- I look forward to continuing our journey towards principalship together over the next year and a half.

  10. Wow! I can't believe this last week was our final class. I really do LOVE Thursdays! (I think Glenn has said it so many times...it has become part of my speech patterns!) I appreciate the wealth of knowledge - not only from Glenn but from all of you! I read over your work weekly and always am amazed at how you have summarized an idea, presented a project and so much more. I loved hearing the variety of leadership plans that incorporated so many wonderful ideas. Feel blessed to have had this opportunity!

  11. I am moved and inspired. I love Thursdays! I think is a wonderful mantra. I cannot thank enough Mark and Glenn for their unconditional support, encouragement, dedication, passion, and fun. I am blessed to have you all in my life. I look forward in working with you all. I continue to learn, grow, have lots of room for improvement, and have fun. This has been a challenging course and has taught me lessons I will use in my leadership role. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
